FUTURES WEEK ARUBA

On 2 December 2025, we celebrate World Futures Day. Futures Literacy is focused on how societies and governments can navigate volatility in an era marked by technological disruption, demographic transitions, and the climate crisis through leveraging foresight, anticipation, and futures thinking to inform policy and inspire collective actions. This year’s activities will illustrate the practical application of foresight and anticipation in policy making. It will also leverage interdisciplinary expertise, including university-based Futures Studies to identify and explore emerging issues on the horizon.
UNESCO Aruba has partnered up with Emerging Communities, University of Aruba, Feelin’ Hot and RAPP to host interactive and educational activities to celebrate World Futures Week.
3 December – ‘Creando mapa di calor awe, pa diseña un futuro fresco’:
This session will be an interactive climate presentation, during which the public will have the opportunity to learn more about the 2023-2024 heatmaps and participate in an open dialogue about this topic afterwards.

4 December – Reimagining Tomorrow and Designing Our Futures:
This session will feature an interactive presentation on Futures Literacy, exploring how it can be leveraged to inform foresight, anticipation, and futures thinking, and inspire collective action, including the official publication of Designing Our Futures.

5 December – Launch Youtube Channel ‘Young Talk’:
This session will feature the launch of Youtube Channel ‘Young Talk’ by our Aruba youth. The Aruba Youth Media Lab is an innovative partnership between media professionals and journalists designed to build a youth-led media hub. It empowers young people to inform a real audience while strengthening their media literacy skills
